» National Geographic Channel - Taboo Widget
![]() To bring the rituals and cultures explored in National Geographic Channel’s “Taboo” closer to audiences and raise awareness for the show in Summer 2007, 360i created "How Taboo Are You?" widget, giving viewers the opportunity to choose which taboo ritual they would be willing to undertake, by showing pictures of two seemingly taboo acts like "eat dog" versus "be impaled." Upon making their selection among a sequence of choices, users find out if more people agreed or disagreed with their selection as being more taboo. The game also allowed players to view the results of others who played the game to show you if others agreed or disagreed with you. The widget mirrors the look and feel of the Taboo Web site, and can be easily copied and embedded in many different environments, including social networking profiles, personalized home pages like iGoogle and blogs. The widget was also adapted to support Facebook’s new application development platform, allowing users to add this to their Facebook profiles. 360i reached out to bloggers, site editors, forum moderators, Facebook groups and more to encourage widget posting and editorial reviews of the program, ensuring that tends of thousands of users added and played the widget. In fact, 68% of users played the game, and once they tried it once, they played it 5 more times per site visit on average.
